  1. By the end of October you will only be able to claim IS until your youngest starts primary school. After that you will automatically be put on job seekers allowance where you will have to prove you are definetely looking for a full time job.

If you dont get a job in the first 6 months then you will have to do UNPAID work in the community or lose your benefits.

These measures have been introduced to keep stupid little girls sponging off decent families like my own.

My wife & I both work full time and my 15 year old daughter works 2 nights a week in the local chip shop. She just passed 8 GCSE,s and is looking forward to 5th year.

My twin sons of 9 collect and sell lost golf balls to supplement their pocket money. What they make - we double. Its called instilling a sound work ethic in your children.

  2. I agree with Colin T

  3. i am a single parent too and can tell you that you will be able to claim indefinitely. You will have to attend work based interviews every 6 months for a review of your case. If you wish to earn a little extra you can earn £20 per week without it coming off your Income Support. You can also attend college if you wish some courses allow you to work part-time on a course while still claiming Income Support and colleges can help out with childcare. I found this a healthy relief from parenting!!

Don't listen to the people leaving negative thoughts on this! Income Support is there for people like me and you and they obviously haven't had the need to use it but unfortunately many do and we would end up a third world country without it.

  4. indefinitely, with income support. If you're on JSA you get reviewed every few months, but with either behefit there's no actual time limit.

  5. just now it is until your youngest child is 16 years old, but with the welfare reform Act this will change over the next couple of years and be restricted to your youngest child is 7 years old

You will  be expected to attend 'work focused interviews' at regular interviews at Jobcentre plus, although you have to attend you don't actually have to agree to do anything else except discuss your circumstances with them.

  6. I am not going to answer this as i would just be rude.
