I won a bid for something yesterday but I wont be able to pay for it for about 2 to 5 days. I tried emailing the seller but he wont respond. I'm new to ebay and am not sure whether it's ok to wait that long.

  1. Typically, the auction listing will contain information as to how long you have to pay.  Two to five days is usually ok.  However, you should use PayPal and a credit card especially if you have a situation where the seller won't communicate.  One piece of advice - don't bid on an auction that ends when you don't have the money or credit immediately available.  Bad feedback on Ebay will hurt you.

  2. can you mail a check? by the time it arrives, you;ll have money to cover it. waiting a long time is bad business

  3. Ebay policy state sellers should grant one week but you need to check the seller information on the item. There are some pain in the neck sellers that want their money in 1-2 days and only accept PayPal. If you are in doubt just send the seller a message.

  4. I believe a week is acceptable

    all the best

  5. Try sending the seller a message again through ebay.  Click on the send message to seller on the link directly on the the page of the item you won.  Its possible he/she never got your e-mail and will respond sooner to a message sent directly through ebay.  Let the seller know you will have the money in a few days and apologize for not being able to pay it right away.  Just sound really sincere and if they are a high volume seller, you waiting on your money probably wont be a problem.  On the other hand, that seller might have been banking on the money right away and may tell you they will relist if the item is not paid for within a certain time frame...re read the auctions payment terms and this should give you a good idea of what your response will be once he/she does respond.  Sometime it takes a while for high volume sellers to respond to questions asked through ebay regarding items...this is common but dont give up with just one e-mail..it could have simply gotten lost in the flurry of e-mails im sure they get on a daily basis.
