How long can man survive on brewskies

Drinking nothing but beer and water, how long can a man survive?

Why the heck do I think I heard of someone who tried to make it a month with no food -- just beer and water.  

I'm almost positive I read about this guy.  He made it, I remember that.  So, atleast 30 days.

For centuries people used to think that beer was safer to drink than water and would only drink beer (ale or mead as it used to be known). They didn't know the alcohol in beer disallowed any bacteria or germs to grow in it.
