I just got a 20 gallon enclosure for my baby bearded dragon, and I just wanted to know how long I can keep it there. I heard it was 4-6 months, but I don't know.

  1. 20 gallon is good enough for a few months..but really, you might as well just spend the money and get a bigger one. They grow to be about a foot long, so he will need a lot bigger tank than 20 gallons.

Also...make sure you pay really good attention to this animal.

I had one and he died from calcium deficiency...

I don't want that to happen to you because they are so cute when they get bigger.

If you have any questions regarding the care of the animal and my mistakes...feel free to message me.

  2. Most people upgrade after their bearded dragons reach a foot long.

You can upgrade after it's 6 months old though. It's not good to keep young bearded dragons in big tanks because they don't get confused and don't bask properly, but a 6 month old one would do well in a bigger tank.

I'm upgrading to a 55 gallon once my bearded dragon is 6 months old (around Christmas time).
