Can post partum become something worse if ignored in its earliest stages?

  1. i believe so. and the thing is is that some doctors dont take it seriously. my really close friend had symptoms and she talked to me about it and when she told the doc the doc said that she was just a new mom and tired and stuff. it really upset me becasue its serious. so if you or someone is suffering then tell the doc you are serious and if they wont help go somewhere that will.


  2. oh god yes, it can (rarely) turn into post partum physcosis which can be very serious. i would consult your dr

  3. If post-partum is left untreated then it can last up to six months or more. You or who ever is suffering should talk to the doctor and let he or she know what is going on and don't let it pass for long.

  4. Absolutely. It is a type of depression and, left untreated, it can spiral downward and become very bad. If you suspect it, and it is more than just the normal baby-blues, I would suggest talking to the OB. They can often prescribe something that will help out.
