My Ball Python(Pryce) is about 7 years old and around 4 1/2 ft. long. His tank stays a consistent 87-90 degrees always. My house (air conditioned of course) stays at about 70-72 during the summer. I get him out regularly and was wondering if that much of a difference in temps for an extended period of time will affect him in any way? I never keep him out longer than maybe half an hour if i'm staying inside the house. Of course outside it is around 90 degrees so I will keep him out longer but I just wanted to know if anyone could enlighten me on this?

  1. You are just fine taking him out of his tank for a while. The temperature of the snake takes a few hours to drop to a dangerous temperature. Even at 70-72 degrees in your house, Pryce can stay alive for a long time in that temperature. I take my snakes out all the time in the same temp as your house is and they are do just fine. Especially if you are holding him during this period out of his cage....just the body heat from you will regulate his body temperature. Don't worry about it sweetie, your boy will be just fine the way you are handling it!

    Hope this helps.

  2. its actually a good thing because 90 degrees is too hot for a ball python so by u taking him out once and a while would help cool down his body.

  3. That is fine.  A half hour out won't hurt a bit.
