  1. I don't see why you couldn't do that.  You'd have to file taxes, but you could do that electronically and/or with the help of an accountant.  As far as I know there's no time limit on how long you can be out of the States.  The question would be how you would get permission from these other countries to be there for longer than the usual length of their tourist visas.

  2. You can stay outside the USA the rest of your life.  Be sure to file your federal income tax each year.  That's required.  Include all your income, even from China.

  3. A US citizen need never return to the US -- you can travel, live abroad, renew your passport at the nearest US consulate as necessary.  However, do not forget to file your income taxes every year -- Americans are subject to US income tax on their worldwide income forever.

  4. No, you don't have to return, just as long as your passport doesn't expire in those five years.

    :)

  5. You can stay out of the US for as long as you like.  The problem would be how long you can stay where you are wanting to stay.  Visa's won't last long.

As long as your passport doesn't expire (you can get renewals at US embassy) then you technically don't ever have to come back.  There are no time limits in which you have to report back.
