  1. I believe most cars have about a 50 mile distance after the light comes on. Bad idea to wait until than, because of the possibility of getting clogged fuel lines, filters,  injectors ect. Best time to fill up is in the morning when it is cooler and you can get more gas into the tank.

  2. Different from car to car. You usually have about 2 gallons left when it glows. So 2 times whatever you get for gas mileage.

  3. An ABC (TV) news program did a test on this issue.

It turns out that most cars can go about 60 miles (1 hour) on the hwy speed.  I think you can go about 30 miles at street speed.

    WOW !

    Good luck...

  4. That depends on the car.  In my van, about 30 miles after I first see it.

In my husbands car... about 2 miles, if you are lucky.

Hint... don't do it!  But when you do, know you're limits... and be prepared to run out of gas a time or two.  (Or three.. or four...)

  5. It depends on the type and mechanical condition of the vehicle. My vehicle gets about 20 to 30 miles when the light comes on based on my digital gas meter. Right before the light goes on it shows a range of about 40 miles. After a few minutes / miles 5 to 10 then the light pops on. Thus I am estimating about 30 miles. It also depends on how you are driving as well.

  6. When the fuel light pops on my motorcycle I know I have a solid 40 miles before I really need to hit a gas station.  That still gives me about a 10 to 15 mile reserve.

  7. until the car stops

  8. well u have about 1.5-2 gallons og gas after that

  9. That depends entirely on the type of car you are driving.

But, seriously - why risk it?

Running out of gas can be dangerous, costly and time consuming.

  10. I can drive about 80 miles before I totally run out.
