i had my PS3 running for 2 weeks straight in the middle of summer without any problems.

It was built with heat problems in mind... it's not a 360.

realistically.. ppl "claiming " how long they left it on... i left mine on for 14 hrs straight? why? i was playing gt4 and theres the le mans 24 hr race...i had it set on b-spec so im not racing.. i fast forwarded thru the race for an hr an a half... went to work for 9 hrs.. and fast forwarded the rest of the race...



i do imagine if u keep it in a cool decent sized room... it cud run for maybe a week or so..but whod wanna do that (even tho the ps3 takes up a low amount of electricity)

Forever. They are tested for that. Heat is constantly being dissipated, it does not build up. The heat you felt from it 20 min ago is already gone.

I haven't kept mine on for more than 12 hours. I don't see the need of keeping it on longer than that... unless you're folding.

if the ps3 overheats it shuts itself down.
