  1. call the town council or the local alderman or cityhall


  2. Declare now, it will save you getting more tax to pay for, by that I mean if you intend to pay monthly, do not let the months build up

  3. You will be charged from when you moved into the property, so if I was you I would declare it now

  4. You should inform the council as soon as you move in, or before, since the council tax would be due from the moment you moved in/took the lease on (whichever is the earliest). I think there may be rules about living somewhere for less than 6 months, but the council still need to be told straight away.
