  1. it depends on your will to survive... some people have gone much longer than 3 days without eating.... but you need water... some ship wreck survivors have gone days without water....

  2. are you asking how long "I" can go without eating, or individual human beings?  if you're asking about me, i'd say probably at least a week. i've gone 4 days before without any lasting side effects other than that my attitude toward food in general has changed - i know that i can go a day or two without eating every once in a while and it won't kill me. ;)

    if you're talking about humans IN GENERAL, i'd say virtually everyone, unless they are already sufferring from malnutrition, can go at least a week without dying and most people (expecially people who are overweight) could go two weeks or more without any serious long-lasting effects.

  3. 3 Days without food but you need water without water about 2.

  4. For actual experience, I have gone as much as 3 days without real food, but drinks (some other than water like ice tea and soda).

    I would estimate I could survive about 2 weeks with no food and after that it would be uncertain.

    Because conditions vary from person to person and by location, I will point out that I am a 33 year old male and I live in a mountainous region in a temperate climate.

  5. It depends on your body fat.  Bobby Sans lasted over 50 days on his hunger strike.  I'm underweight so I'd probably die a lot quicker.

  6. around 30 days

    though there is no nutrients present in ur body after 10 days the body utilises the stored fat nd after tht uses the proteins of which ur muscles r made up up of

    slowly the energy utilisation of the body decreses on the ebergy is given to the heart and the brain and when all the energy is used up

    ********u die**********

  7. depending on your initial weight, at least 30 days.

  8. i do believe its about 30 days, as long as theirs adequate water

  9. Survival rule of 4's.

    4 weeks without Food.

    4 days without Water.

    4 minutes without Air.

    Individual cases vary, you may or may not die at these times, but you won't be in good shape. Depending on activity level is the most important varable. Surviving in the wild type tasks; walking, working, etc., obviously use more energy (burn more calories) and wither away faster. Conversly, a patient laying in a hospital/ nursing home bed may last for months, for lack of activity. It mostly depends upon the initial surplus of energy, body fat percentage.

    The body will "eat" itself before you die first, mid to low calorie fats, then high protine/calorie muscles. But you still need water to function.

    More fat/muscle = More time

  10. Survival rates in hot/dry climate:

    3 mins without oxygen;

    30 hours without shelter;

    3 days without water;

    30 days without food.

  11. In my survival training; my teacher gave the rule of three.

    an average person

    can live for three minutes without air

    can live for three days without water

    I went four days without food and water during a vision quest.

    can live for three weeks without food.

    If the person is overweight, this could go up quite a bit.

    The survival expert on the discovery channel is doing EVERYTHING wrong from a survival point of view.

    If you are lost and you have access to good water stay put so they know where yo look for you. When you hear a plane or helicopter signal them with a mirror or signal fire.

    it does no good to eat food that may make you sick and throw up (this will dehydrate you and hasten your death) or poisoin you.

    If the Discovery channel told the truth about survival it would be more educational but not entertaing.

  12. I think one could possibly go for months without food,  providing one had adequate hydration. recently a nursing home patient that was ordered cut off from any food or liquids lived for two weeks before succumbing to dehydration and malnutrition

  13. In June 1999, a Mr Rico Kolodzey of Germany ,claim that he can live on water alone, absorbing 'prana' or life energy from space around him.Now this claim is, to say the least, extraordinary. It is perhaps even more extraordinary that an individual should offer to prove this claim by submitting himself to a controlled test.The claim is one that most people would treat with great skepticism, and might well run a mile from,however in average persons ,everyone in here had said

    it all

  14. until I get hungry.

  15. 3 days without food and water, but longer if you have water.

  16. I once fasted for 2 weeks.  Drank water of course.
