How long can you wear contacts?

i have frequency 38 contact lens that last for 6 months and i have toclean them every night im wonderin how long i can wear them for

well. it depends what kind of contacts you have. if you have the hydro clear ones you can really have them on for about 12 hours. after about that time you have to put drops in your eyes and on the contacts so your eyes stay moist. it would say on the box or package how long it should be before you have to put more drops in. sometimes and usually its about 4-6 hours.

You could wear them all day if you wanted, but it's usually recommended only 8 hours.  I wear mine from 6:30am to 8pm.  If you sleep in them, the risk of getting an eye infection is 100x normal and they will feel glued to your eyes.

If you want longer wear, get the Oaysis lenses.  You can even sleep in them if you really wanted... (only 2x risk of getting eye infection).

You shouldn't keep a pair for longer than 6 months first of all.

My optician tells me it's okay to wear them for 12 hours a day but to give at least one day off wearing contacts each week. He also said that infections happen most in people who sleep in them, and I presume he meant the contacts that you're meant to sleep in.

I wouldn't try it with ordinary contacts. A friend did once and the lens was stuck to her eye in the morning. Yuk.

with my contacts my optometrist recommended that i wear mine for 5-8 hours or whenever they start getting uncomfortable and recommends putting them in solution overnight and every week or two but my contact case in clean boiling water to rid of all the bacteria

Usually the longest is 2 weeks, if they start irritating your eyes sooner throw them out.

That varies on each person. Usually you shouldn't feel your contacts on your eyes, when you actually start felling them is when you need to take them off.
