How long did it take after having mirena inserted did it take to stop spotting?

I had my mirena put in about 6 weeks ago and have had 1 period since (it was slightly lighter than normal) but ever since I had it put in I've been spotting pretty much every day. I haven't spotted the last 2 days or so and I'm hoping that maybe its starting to go away! But its done this before and started right back up again! I just want to hear other womens experiences with the mirena and how long it took for the spotting to go away completely. I'm so sick of wearing panty liners they are driving me crazy!!

10 to 12 weeks is usually how long the spotting lasts.  After that, your periods will continue to get lighter and lighter, and after a year or so you might not even have a period!  Mine was about 12 weeks.

You can spot the entire time that you have it, but it's most common in the first 3 months.
