I just started and I love it! I play it for the relaxation and the 'theory' that playing it can increase ones intelligence quotient. Which I can understand because there involves a certain element or degree of logic involved. "If he moves his knight here then I can move my pawn there..." So help me to understand the ideas behind this game. How long did it take you to become a notable chess player?

  1. Me? I learned the moves when I was in the 4th grade. I'm 22 now. But I didn't get serious until I was about 10 when my uncle taught me some tricks and the basic concept of it. Then I got a job night stocking. We'd get a 15 min break, we'd clock out, play 15 mins, clock back in, then finish our game, even if it took an hour. But yeah, this is definitly my favorite game of all time.
