What language is it and how did you learn it? (university, self teaching, extra classes, etc)

  1. I studied Spanish since I was very young, and I've recently picked it back up again. I'd say, however, it took me three months to learn all the grammar points. It took me a bit longer, however, to pick up the colloquial sayings. Sometimes, cognate by cognate doesn't work.

    I'm trying to speak Vietnamese, Mandarin, and Cantonese at home with my mother (tons of family members on my mom's side are multilingual), but I think it'll take a while for that.

    If you try hard enough, I think you can become fluent in about six months. For example, it took me six months to learn and sign fluent ASL.
