  1. get a good instructor ask around and do 2 lessons per week then go out with family as often as possible, but do not drive like your family tell you, always stick to the instructors way, you will pass then no problem,

  2. I'm from California...we don't learn how to drive, it's instinctive.

  3. It only took me a week, but I took driver's ed.

  4. 10 days from first lesson to test. (passed) It was an intensive course.

  5. Just a few minutes. I'd been watching my mother for a long time on our Plymouth Vailent 4 on the floor. When I was 14 I snuck it out of the garage and took it for a spin around the sub division. Then my b/f let me drive his bw beetle while we were together. I only told my mother about sneaking the car out a few times when I was safely in my 20's lol.

  6. When I was a senior, I was told by my instructor I was not ready to go to the driver's test yet.

I tried again at 27, when I had a car to use. I did the 6 hours required in IL, and I needed more time, so I had one practice with my child's father. He made me NEEEEEERVOUS, constantly yelling and screaming. Now, that's a good way to cause an accident, now isn't it? Luckily, I did not have an accident, and he used the excuse that his father yelled at him when he was learning. Well, it's not my fault his father yelled!

So I thought, skip it! I'll take the test and bomb it!

Well, surprisingly, I DID NOT bomb it!

  7. Three hours and you???

  8. I gave up on lesson 2

  9. i took 7 tests! and passed on my 8th go!  I had to start seeing the driving instructor as it was getting so expensive!  he was gone a week after my 8th test!

  10. You mean how to operate the car? Like 30 seconds (gas right, brake left, hold on to wheel. Done!). All of the rules? Well, if you go from when I started driving (at 8) to when I got my permit (at 14), I guess 6 years then, though I knew 95% of them anyways at that point.

  11. 4 months from start to passing.

I always took 2 hour lessons which really helped with the practice.

    (oh and passed first time)

  12. 3-5 months if you really want to and work hard or else 5-8

  13. I was already for my test after 10 weeks, but completed a 17 week course just for peace of mind.

  14. 3 days - 2 hours per day. You need a really cool person who isn't nervous to take you to an empty parking lot. I only missed 2 points on my drivers test because I was driving too fast on the off ramp. Otherwise, passed with flying colors.

  15. It took a total of 2 months. First I got my permit. Then I went to driving school and took lessons. My dad would also take me on the road to practice. Finally, I took the written test and driving test at the DMV and passed.

  16. 20 years of stopping and starting, not recommended , get a good instructor, have at least two lessons a week and in between get some patient friend to sit beside you while you practice, practice, practice

  17. I started lessons in the April and passed my test in the October.  First time!

  18. I still haven't

  19. omg.....

    i need to do that!

  20. 10 weeks from first lesson to passing my test. (first time)

  21. It took me 2 months
