Imean how long will it take you and how long did it take you. Im reading The confessions of Saint Augustine and going through his journey of thought and i was thinking why dont wes top dealing with trivialities that pple like him have already dealt with and move on by making our life easier by doing it Gods way there are many examples of pple who did it Gods way and it worked for them but is the opposite true is therev an atheist who reached nirvana or lived a life that we all look back and admire and would die for?

  1. How could we possibly know what God's way is?

In the roughly 100,000 years of humanity's history, thousands of gods have been invented to explain the driving force behind nature.

    Which one should I follow?

Perhaps the one invented by Bronze Age formerly Polytheistic goat herders whose writings were eventually collected together to form the Bible?

Why not any or all of the rest?

  2. my believe is that no matter there is god or not. If you doing good you will end up with happiness, If you doing bad thing you end up with unhappiness.

  3. I'm sorry, but you're going to have to provide justification for  your premise. I contend that the pointlessness of life is not incumbent on a god, but rather the character of the person.  Some will find a purpose regardless of theistic belief, and some will fail to find a point in spite of it.

Further, I contend that there is not a religious figure that is universally admired.  I ask that you provide some candidates for the post.  Keep in mind that unless there is 100% agreement, the nomination fails.

  4. I think that in the back of everyone's mind, they know that without God everything IS pointless, whether they know it or not. I was just speaking about this with my husband. I said that I have lost faith and gained faith too many times in one lifetime. I said that the problem with humans is the fact that we have a brain that allows us to rationalize and use what we call "logic" in order to create the best fitting answer according to ourselves. Now, I consider myself to be a very open minded person; I don't have a religion, but was brought up with one, and I have gone from "logically" finding the existence of God to be completely accurate, to 180 degrees away, and finding his existence impossible...BACK TO 360 degrees and having faith. I've learned a very important thing..we have the capability to make possible and make impossible just about anything, because our minds are just as vast as the universe. By believing or disbelieving, we make it real, because we say so...but the truth exists in your heart. So to answer your question, it took me all my life, and probably the rest of my life, to find out what a new born baby's clear headed mind already knows. ...and thanks so much for asking. :)

  5. To say that life without God is pointless is actually quite untrue. You see, if I were to believe in God, then I wouldn't live life on Earth as fully since I'd know that there's an afterlife and therefore I wouldn't truly die, just move to another plain of existance. However, if I did not believe in any form of God, then I'd believe that there is no life after death. Therefore, I'd charish each moment in this life more since I know that each moment passed is one less moment that I have left. Therefore, it is far more accurate to say that life without God is actually more meaningful. As for the second part of your question, yes, there are lots of people who don't follow the word of God yet are still very successful and happy. In fact, 97% of the members of the National Science Assosiation of America do not believe in God, yet look how successful they are. In fact, out of all of the astronauts that went into space, the large majority of them are atheists. Moreover, most corporate executives, such as Bill Gates, actually don't believe in God. What's even more interesting, people who don't believe in God are more likely to succeed because they charish each moment more and therefore are more likely to go the extra distance to succeed. In fact, take a look at just about any extremely wealthy individual and chances are, they're either Athiest or Agnostic. Successful people all over the world from Donald Trump to the classic rock band "Rush" acheived their success by their own means, not by following some celestial guide (god).

This is part of the lyrics to one of my favorite songs by Rush. Read it carefully and see if you can decifer it.

"You can choose a ready guide in some celestial voice

[i.e. you can choose to believe in God}.

If you choose not to decide

[i.e. you can choose not to decide what to believe in, as in, being agnostic]

you still have made a choice!

You can choose between phantom fears and

    kindness that can kill

[i.e. you can choose to fear non-existant gods and therefore be kind to people in order to gain favor from those gods]

    I will choose a path that's clear

    I will choose free will!"

[if you choose to be athiest, you are not bound to follow the laws of the Gods, therefore you have free will]

  6. There is never one right way, I'm sure there are many an atheist who have reached some form of Nirvana. If there is no God, that doesn't all of a sudden make everything pointless. You should read up on existentialism.

  7. To even speak of a being of whom we cannot even phathom how he works or what he intends to do should be a sin. For who amongst us can know the whole truth.

  8. I will never think a life without God is pointless. Like every other animal I live my life as fully as possible. Do rabbits start thinking 'hmmm you know I think my life would be a lot more meaningfull if I had a higher power to tell me exactly what to do'? Of course not, believing in the afterlife really is pointless it doesn't improve your life if anything it hinders it by constantly giving you senseless rules.

  9. Honestly, I see life pointless with or without God. I am an agnostic/atheist (I sway from one to the other constantly) and see life pretty meaningless. But it is really - life isn't supposed to have meaning. We're not here on this Earth for any reason other than to just live. Humans are the only animals that can't accept that. And even if I did believe in God, I would still feel like a meaningless entity.

  10. life is a journey as the cliche goes.

and its never pointless, god, religion, beliefs, faith or any rule ( or no rule) that we follow (not necessarily divine or holy) are just guidelines that we think( or subconsciously think) will make our journey a little easier

  11. I think you should ask god for some punctuations. I'm not following.

  12. I already realized it ages ago but I haven't gotten to the point of self-actualization that i must remain with that realization because I'm still coming back to my old self of ignorance of his power and love for us.

  13. So sorry but after having lived more than half a century, this one has discovered that for him personally, religion, belief in a supreme being and the many and varied supposed divine revelations is pointless, ridiculous and a misleading path to superstition, confusion, fear, disharmony and disunity.

    Be well.

  14. Only God can help people read all the way through some of the questions we get. God bless you and enjoy your life.

  15. A long time, but you are right, it should have hit me sooner. I guess I just didnt want to believe.
