  1. You must be Russian.

  2. "Why hello, beautiful"

The few units that remain cohesive and well-armed probably began firing upon Russian units after the latter began to advance further inland.

Organized resistence is not even remotely possible at this point. The Georgian military no longer exists in any organized form. Between desertions and the overpowering might of the Russian 53rd Motorized Rifle Division, there's a handful of platoons out of communication with each other, a few assorted snipers and irregulars, and a lot of defeated men taking their families across the borders into Armenia, Turkey and Azerbaijan.

  3. Just about as long as McCain can keep his mouth closed

  4. Gee attacking a Foreign INVADER, when is that ever wrong

  5. Georgia?  Russia has never stopped moving into Georgia since they signed the cease fire and does not mean you let the other guy take your territory and don;t shoot or shoot back when they do.  Independent sources now say that the Georgians did not attack first also but wee provoked by three days of artillery firing, South Ossetians looting and burning Georgian homes and the Russian Peacekeepers doing nothing to stop it or do stop or assist the Georgian Peacekeepers from being shot at and attacked.  A cease fire means you do not continue advancing and not just that you stop shooting so the Russians have yet to start keeping the cease fire.

  6. Georgia declared a ceasefire on the 7th and attacked the South Ossetian capitol city,Tskhinvili, the next morning. They were literally moving into position as the Georgian President was announcing the "ceasefire". They had already attacked several other small villages in the days preceding.

On August 7th, before the Georgians attacked the South Ossetian city, the Russians had asked the United Nations for an emergency meeting to stop the genocide of the South Ossetians.

After the Georgians killed about 1600 South Ossetians and a few Russian peacekeepers ( I think 30), the Russians moved in on the 8th. You can see it on several videos on Youtube, the BBC and other sites. There were already journalists all over the country...since the Georgia attack was in the International News...not the US!

Both Us and Israeli commandos were in Georgia at the time of the attack. They were arming and training the Georgians. The US intends to build a missile base there with ICBM's on the Russian border. Russia and Europe to a lesser degree oppose this US move. Europe doesn't like it because if missiles are fired at Russia, the automatic response from Russia would be cruise missiles. Also the oil in those pipelines supply Europe not the US.

Note: The South Ossetians are a different ethnic group from the Georgians and have their own language. They have lived there since the 12th century along with their relatives who live in the Republic of North Ossetia that is across the Russian border. Stalin divided them (in the 1920's or there about...I would have to look it up) to reduce their ability to work together against him. They have been independent since 1992, from the beginning of Georgia's independence from Russia. They have never wanted to be part of Georgia.
