How long did the empire state building burn for after it was hit by a plane in 1945?

The empire state building was struck by a plane in 1945 (B-25 bomber) although it caused $1 million of damage...it did not collapse...does anyone know for how long it was on fire

  2. If you're trying to compare this to the World Trade Center you must realize that the construction of the Empire State Building is much different  than the WTC.

    In addition the B-25 is a small twin engined medium bomber with a gross weight of around 35,000 lbs.

    The planes that impacted the WTC were Boeing 767's with gross weights pretty close to 10 times that of the B-25. They carried much more fuel and travel much faster.
