I dated a lot of men and they all were worth it, I learned soo very much and I knew what I whanted and didn't want by the time I did married, turned a few down from marriage. One time I dated a man for 10 years, never married him so it's just hard to tell... He would have been a very big mistake!!!

it doesn't matter how many people you dated before.  you know that you're ready to get married when you can die knowing that you've found the one you're with.

Met on-line May 05, met in person August 05, engaged January 06, married December 06.  I had 3 relationships before my husband - with long gaps between them and none lasting for longer than 3 months.

My first husband was my third boyfriend. He and I dated off and on for about 2 years before we married, kind of on the spur of the moment. That wedding was planned in 3 weeks.  We divorced after less than 2 years. I then dated a couple of guys and married again after being with the same man for 1 year. Our marriage lasted 18 years before we divorced.

I am getting married in 10 days to a man that I have dated almost 6 years.  I actually went to high school with my fiance (class of 1979) but we did not date back then.  I often wonder how different our lives would have been if we would have dated back then.

Other that my current fiance I dated one guy.  My fiance and I have been together for 6 years (6 and 1/2 on September 11th) he proposed 4 years after we started dating.  We started dating young.  I will be 22 when we marry on may 23rd of next year.

im not married but for the people i know who married...

~my parents...dated 6 months, got engaged, married 6 months after engagement (or one year after dating). they were crazy tho...but still happily married

~my bff: dated 6 years, got engaged, then married one year after engagement (or 7 years after dating). they have been dating since high school and got married right after they graduated college.

~ive been with a guy for two years and we dont even think about marriage. we are still in college and feel too young to think about it now :) so its not how long u are dating...it is when it feels right that you should consider marriage.

Less than a year, then we got married when I was 19 and still married 5 years later. Very happily. Though I wouldn't recommend that quick for most people.

We knew each other our freshman year in college, lost contact, and found each other again (on Facebook, no less) five years later. We dated for a few months and then were engaged for 3 months until we got married. We've been happily married for a year now.

And I dated quite a bit, I had a lot of girlfriends before I got married, sounds like you're asking if there's a certain number of girls/guys you should date before you get married? There's no real answer, but the thing I found with marriage is that you're typically not going to be thinking "do I really want to marry this person?" but you're going to find someone that you don't want to slip through your fingers, you shouldn't have to "convince" yourself to marry anyone.
