  1. My dad was a freak about it.  What I did was I sat down and had a talk with her.  I told her that I had been driving for a year with no accidents.  That means over 700 days of driving without making a mistake.  I told her I thought that made me responsible enough to handle the interstate.

  2. like 2 weeks lol

  3. Are you serious? I drove on the interstate the day I got my license, I get a rush from it lol. I'd talk to her about it and tell her that well since the law says you can drive, you can drive where you please.

  4. They let me drive on the highway the day I got it.

  5. well, right away.

just because florida has really fast paced traffic and i fit in pretty well with my little lead foot. And lets just say having a Lexus sports car wasn't helping matters.

but I have been in some close calls.

She is just trying to keep you safe, she realized one wrong mistake from anyone around, and you wouldn't come home.

    Respect her thoughts.

  6. my parents are practically forcing me to drive on the interstate.

you are lucky that you want to and cant, rather than the other way around.

  7. six months.

But I mean, drive on the highway is hard when you're with someone who's been driving a while, let alone on your own.

  8. well considering i moved from Indiana to Florida just after i got my license i would say no time! lol

  9. I got my license the day I turned 16 and could not TOUCH my car until I got insurance on it which was about a month after I got it.Then I drove on the interstate with my dad about a week afterwards, but I do not get on the interstate unless I HAVE to which in Indiana there is always a way around it on main roads and stuff so that is what I take.Too many idiots on the interstate for me!

So I drove on it and could drive onit if I wanted to about a month and a week after getting my license.

  10. I got a way to fix all of this...

Get a pole and say "dance *****"

  11. As my parents told me. You can drive where you want,

but not in my "new" SUV. So, get a job, and buy a "used" car.

  12. Well my parents didnt like me driving at all. They eventually got over it, and they had to let me drive on the interstate for at least two miles. I had a job, and there was no way to possibly get there without getting on the interstate for at least a few miles. So maybe find a job that requires you getting on the interstate? That way she'll have to let you right?

  13. I drove on the interstate my third time behind the wheel, way before I had my license, or even my permit.

    But alone...I guess...yeah immediately.

I actually find that the interstate is easier to drive on than some other roads.

  14. She sounds like my mom.  Your mom is probably worried about all the other idiots on the interstate and your inexperience to react.  Geeezzz I think till this day she doesn't want me to drive on the interstate.  LOL!  I think I was driving for about a year before she realised she had to let go.

  15. I could drive on the interstate as soon as I got my license. Of course my parents had let me drive on the interstate the whole time I had my permit so they knew that I could handle it. Just ask your mom if you can drive the interstate with her with you a few times and show her that you can handle it.

  16. I did it during Driver's Ed in rush hour, then learned to parallel park at the police station, between the Chief's car and a cruiser.  This was about 2 months before I got my license.

  17. im an orphan

... but as soon as i got mine
