Question:

How long did you use your Arm's Reach co-sleeper before your baby outgrew it?

Hello! I'm trying to decide between the Original co-sleeper and the Mini version. I like how compact the Mini version is but I worry my little boy will outgrow it too quickly. I'm 34 weeks pregnant and I have had 3 ultrasounds so far to measure his growth progress (Im high risk). So far he is in the 75 percentile for weight and is going to be big! And this isn't a guess on the doctor's part cos I don't look big at all, this is from multiple measurement scans.

I wonder how quickly he will grow out of a mini and if its worth getting the bigger one, which can hold a few more pounds. We want him in our bedroom until hes about 6 months old and then he will move to his crib in the nursery. Will he last? How long did your baby sleep in the co-sleeper before he or she got too big? Which should I get?

  1. they said my son was in the 80th percentile for weight, i too had a bunch of ultrasounds....he came out 7lbs even, ultrasounds arent always correct. anyways....i have the co-sleeper that you put on your bed with you.....not sure if its the arms reach one. anyways i used to for one night and then put him next to me in the bed (i have a king sized bed). nothing was wrong with it...but i just like him in the bed next to me, and i feel safer with it than i thought i would during pregnancy.

so dont even waste the money.

  2. Get the full-size for sure!  You can use it at a portable crib or a play yard later.  The mini really isn't good for much more beyond a basinet.

I got the full-size co-sleeper and my twins didn't outgrow it until 4 months but that being said, they were sharing it.  I think a singleton could have used it much, much longer.

I LOVE my Arm's Reach co-sleeper and I plan to use it with my next baby I'm expecting in February.

    Look.  :-)

These are my twins in it, when they were just newborns.

Another option, however, is if you get a crib for him with a removable front rail, you can attach that to the side of your bed as a sidecar option.

I did that with my twins when they outgrew the co-sleeper.

    Check this out.  :-)

They were about 5 and 1/2 months old in that photo.  It was really cold at night and they were still being swaddled so I wanted to keep them covered up and really warm.

    Good luck with your baby!
