After having a baby and you were breastfeeding how long did it take for your period to come back? Also did you take a pregnancy test before you got your period back? My son is 4 months old now...I still don't have a period and I pump while I am at work. Since I can't pump enough to keep up with him he gets about a bottle of formula a day so I am worried that I may be fertile now.

So how long did it take you?

  1. It took me 8 months to get my period again.  Then I got pregnant when he was 11 months old.

I read that you are never really protected from getting pregnant, however, it's pretty unlikely if you are breastfeeding.  I also read that once you start going longer periods between nursing/pumping you become more likely to get your period.  The website I looked at said 6 hours between nursing or pumping.  I wish I remember which site it was, but it's been a few months since I looked at it.

  2. i got my period when my son was about 9 or 10 months old. it is fine dont worry you are still fertile but not as fertile as you would be if you have your reguler menstrual cycle.

  3. mine became regular after 5 months but my actual started cycle started right back a month or so after birth but I had to go to the pill to regulate them.
