  1. they grow to be 12+ inches and deserve to be in a pond. then they will live a very long time. at least 10 years.

but in a crappy fish bowl with no filter, 3 years at most IMO.

  2. Well, that depends. 10 cents are quick bred, usually without regards to quality, as they're meant for feeding.

It also depends how you take care of it. Put him in a bowl with some water and feed it every day, that puppy can last up to ten years. Which you may think is a long time, but it's pretty much animal cruelty. The healthy lifespan of a goldfish is up to thrity years. They're extremely hardy and therefore can last quite awhile in horrible conditions. You hear people boasting about a goldfish who made it to ten, that just makes me sad.

Fish need proper homes, water conditions, filtration systems, diet. They're a lot happier and it's much nicer to give them everything they need than the old "put a fish in a bowl" technique.

  3. Goldfish can last a long time and they dont even need a pump lol

  4. long time i guess

  5. It depends on how well you take care of it.  In a healthy tank, goldfish can live a really, really long time (10+ years).  Even the ones who had to endure long hours in a tiny oxygen-deprived bowl having ping pong balls dropped on their heads all day at a carnival.

The reason why those 10 cent golfish so often die so soon is because they aren't kept in great conditions at the pet store - heck, they're meant to be fed to other fish, they only need them to live long enough for that.  Being over-packed into an aquarium like sardines after a long truck ride makes for very stressed out, illness-prone fish.  Also, beginner fish-keepers often buy these, and newby mistakes are the #1 cause of fish death - fish don't survive long in bowls, and a tank needs to be cycled so the fish don't die from the poison of their own waste (google "new tank syndrome")

  6. Feeder goldfish (the "10-cent" ones) are just like the others and if properly cared for, can live well beyond 10 years.

  7. it depends on how big the cage is and if you have any other fish, but usually the average live 1-2 years

  8. the record is 40 years

  9. up to 30 years.

    mine's 15 rite now :)

    it's HUGE.

  10. Mine's 13. :)

  11. i think like a year

  12. usually 1 month to 2 years depending on its environment and how you treat it.  ANd if you are getting it at walmart, they have a 90 day money back guarantee.  some pet or fish stores also give a money back guarantee.

  13. 15-30 years if they have the proper care.

  14. as long as they are cared for properly they can live for years!
