How long do Crest Whitestrips stay effective (how long until they expire)?

Question

I opened a box a year or two ago and took out the strips and discarded the box. There's a number on the top with letters and I can't make an expiration date out of it. Without tossing them away, I wanted to know if they last for a general amount of time (before becoming less effective) so that I can use them now before they go bad. It would help if you have a box handy so you can say "i bought them ____ and they expire ____" I just need a general time frame for how long they stay active. Thanks!
