How long do I fry okra to get rid of slimy-ness?

The other day on the cooking channel, I saw Bobby Flay and Paula Dean frying the okra in oil before putting it in their gumbo. About how long should I do this for?

I saw that one too!! You should cook it til it is slightly brown, about 5 minutes - stirring it.
