I plan on getting a common gold fish this weekend and I was just wondering after I put the conditioner in and stuff, how long do I have to wait before I put my goldfish in the tank? By the way the tank will have a filter.

  1. well depends on how warm your fish bowl water is / plus  you first put ya fish in th tank when its still in the plastic bag so it cdan get us to the water but liv the top of the bag open  i hope thats what ya looking for

  2. You should turn on the tank and have it up and running about an hour or so before you get your fish. When you have brought the fish home, let the bag float in the tank water for about 20 minutes to half hour so s/he can get used to the new water temperature. When the 20 min./30 min. is up, make sure that you put as little of the water from the bag as you can. If you have a net, just pull him/her out that way.

    Good luck (:

  3. 48 hours is the general rule of thumb but some pet stores recommend up to 2 weeks.  The water needs this time to grow the good bacteria that the fish need to survive.  If you are not sure, take a sample of your water to the pet store and ask them to test it, that way you will know it is safe for the fish.

  4. Honestly, you should set up the tank about 3 days ahead of time and let it run through a bit, then when you get the fish put the fish in the bag in the water. Leave the fish in the water inside the bag and set it in the tank, the water in the bag will become the same temp as the water in the tank, then release the fish including the water in the bag, into the tank. Let the bag with the fish in it, sit in the water for about an hour. Get a bottom feeder too, like a sucker, they help keep the natural balance.

  5. if i were you i would ask a pet store salesperson exactly how to take care of your goldfish. i wouldn't trust just anybody.

  6. 24 hours or over night would work you can also get drops that instantly purify the water

  7. 24 hours I know cuz my friend has some goldfish.

  8. one week

  9. Well I don't think you have to wait, just take your goldfish while it's in the bag and then just put the bag in your tank and let it sit for about 20 minutes then dump the bag into the tank.

  10. Fish usually come in plastic baggies. You're going to want to keep the fish in the bag but put the bag in the tank for about an hour. That way the bag water will get around the same temperature and you fish won't die of shock when you put him in the tank.

  11. 0 mins

  12. The conditioner works in seconds..

  13. 30 mins

  14. you don't have to let it sit at all, i didn't.  i got home put the water in the tank and then put the fish in and she was fine and is now over 2 years old.

  15. just add conditioner

    stir it

    add it to the tank

  16. depends on the temperature if its right go ahead and put it in cause if you wait till 2 days where you gonna put it!

  17. 1)Throw in the dechlor and then let the filter cycle the water for 5 mins to give the  dechlor time to distribute thru out the tank.

2)make sure water temps are the same

  18. i'd say 24 hrs.  it usually says on the conditioner bottle that you can put it in straight away but i'd at least leave it overnight anyway.

  19. not long at all. we put are goldfish in like 30min after, and they are 3 yrs old now.

  20. If you put conditioner in, it should be safe in about a minute. Good luck with your fish!

  21. you have to run it for 24 hours, and then when you get your fish, have them float around in it in the bag so the temperature of the water they are in and the water in the tank will be the same. good luck!

  22. an hour i am a vet

  23. Well I think you just have to get it to room temperature.

  24. Let your tank cycle for3/4 days or a week & change the filter before putting in the fish, you'll need to change 1/2 the water too & recond it.

  25. it depends. if you have a filter system let it sit for 24 hours usually. with no filter you put the fish into the bowl with the same water it came in. if it came like bagged or whatever just pour it in. thats what i did and the fish lasted a whole year.

  26. I think a day or two does it. After you get the fish in the bag, float the bag on top of the water for 15 minutes [with the goldie inside it!]to get the fish used to the water temperature. Then empty the fish inside, and feed it a little any day! Good luck!

  27. I went to PetCo the other day to get a common gold fish and they told me that I shouldnt put the fish in for a couple of days and to buy the fish after I have set up the tank then come back. I guess its supposed to be better idk why I would call and ask a pet store to make sure tho

  28. GOLDFISH, none at all, just be sure the water feels somwate the same with your finger, TROPICAL FISH are DIFFERENT , you need to let the water cycle with a pump for at least 6 hours , sometimes 24 depending on tank size, GOLDFISH are pretty hardy fish and can survive harsh climates and water conditions, Just ask anyone who has a FISH pond OUTSIDE THERE HOME ! !

  29. Ok, so you can probably wait for about fifteen minutes that's what my mom does it works they get comfortable with their surroundings try not to mess with them, there very delicate. try making there home more homey =]
