How long do I have to pay back an overdraft fee for Bank of America?

I know the sooner the better but as a college student living paycheck to paycheck I can't pay it off for another two weeks. Will my account be frozen or what are the consequences of waiting too long to pay it off?

  1. If your account remains insufficient for more than 30-days, they will close your account and place you on Chexsystems until you pay the non-sufficient charges.

  2. you can pay it back in 2 weeks, no problem.  If this is your first overdraft fee, they might take it off.  Just tell them you made a huge mistake and that you're a struggling college student and they might refund it.

  3. Your account will not be closed. Boa will typically give you 90-120 days to settle overdrawn accts but depending on how you overdrew the account (items that overdrew).

If you leave your acct in a neg balance, it affects your acct history... e.g, boa might not pay items in the future. also, for future banking needs, cc/loan with the bank..although mainly based on credit score ad credit history; existing customer usually get a better deal, but ull miss out if ur acct history isnt so good

  4. Yes, call them 1-800-432-1000, enter your id and password, or if you don't have one, press 1 and proceed.  If it's your first...or second of third...they WILL help you.  If you're a chronic "overdrafter" they may think twice.

A lot of people don't know that you can call and explain your problem, and 9 times out of 10, they will reverse it for you.  :-)  Um...I've had 4 reversed at one time.  (Long Story).  lol
