How long do I steam shrimp?

Just remember, by the time you start them, it's time to stop them, 2 minutes, 2 seconds.  Shrimp cooks very fast and are easy to overcook.

put a little water in a pot, boil it and add clean and deveined shrimp until cooked with a pinkish color, should only take a minute or two

If you are a shrimp lover (like I am) you might want to try this recipe too.

I have the Bubba Gump Shrimp cookbook, and this version of shrimp scampi is fantastic!  Try it!

2 lbs fresh shrimp (I have used frozen too)

1 med onion, finely chopped

4 cloves garlic minced

1/2 C butter, melted

2 T lemon juice

1/2 t dried tarragon

1/2 t steak sauce (I use A-1)

1/2 t worchestershire sauce

1/2 hot sauce, like tabasco

hot cooked noodles

2 T chopped parsley, optional

Peel and devein shrimp. Cook onion and garlic in butter in a large skillet over medium heat, stirring constantly, 4 minutes; add lemon juice, and the next 4 ingredients. Bring to a boil; add shrimp, and cook, stirring constantly, 3 to 5 minutes, or til shrimp turns pink. Serve over noodles. Sprinkle with parsley if desired.

This recipe beats any restaurant's version!

Two minutes depends on the amount of shrimp

1-5 lbs, about two-three minutes, but is better if you boil them.  Just boil a pot of water then throw all the shrimp, as soon as it begins to boil again, wait two minutes and remove into a iced cold water to stop the cooking process,

BTW: shrimp will turn pink as soon as it touches hot water..it does not mean that is cooked..So wait for two minutes before removing it
