I recently went for a job interview(6 days ago) & was told no matter what the out-come,I would hear either way from them,I still haven't heard & was wondering how long should I leave it to get in touch with them as I don't want to seem to pushy. Also is it a good or bad sign not to have heard back already?

  1. I think it depends what  was the job was for?

  2. wait for a few days more, be patient since you haven't got anything to lose.

  3. Sorry 6 days sounds a bit to long to me, Give them a quick call .

  4. I'd give it another day before ringing. One week is sufficient however some companies are so disorganised they'll think nothing of waiting up to 2 weeks to send you a letter with a job offer!

  5. One week should be sufficient.  Concerning the question of whether it's a good or bad sign that you have yet to hear from them, it all depends on the size of the business to which you applied.

  6. a week is long enough but remember the postal strikes

  7. NEVER get in touch with a potential employer after an interview.  If you do and they have only just made up their minds to appoint you they will DEFINITLY change their minds and offer it to someone else.  If they are interested in you they will have been in touch long before now.  The shortest length of time I have to wait to hear the outcome of an interview was 3 hours, and the longest - well I am still waiting - is 16 YEARS.

  8. I think you are worrying about it too much. The wait can be dreaded thing, but stay positive. Remember, people can get busy and things can come up. Maybe they still have a couple of more interviews to finish up or maybe the hiring manager had some issues to run off to. I would send a follow-up letter or email thanking the hiring manager for your his/her time and express your interest of working for the company. This will show your appreciation and interest without coming off too pushy. In the meantime, relax and stay positive.
