like how often do they change their MOS? how does all that work? I'm just curious. Like what if you're an officer in charge of a recruiting command? How long would you be there?

  1. Marine Corps Officers don't change there MOS.  They do choose to go and do different duties like being a officer in the Recruiting command,  Embassy Duty, or various other administrative billets, but they will always be the same MOS and will usually go back to them after there time in the Recruiting command is up.  The average time in Recruiting and Embassy Duty is 3 years unless they are trying not to go back to the fleet Marine Corps for some reason or the other.

  2. You only get one MOS unless you go through training to obtain an additional one. In my 4 years in the Corps, I never had a CO or XO with a communications MOS or training and I was always in a Communications Company. I obtained two addtional MOS certificates for Motor Pool (testing new drivers) and Rifle and Pistol Range (Instructor). My main MOS never changed though.
