  1. The laws vary from state to state and country to country.

    What state/country are you in?

  2. We adopted a baby 2 years ago, and where we live, the birthmother had 10 days to change her mind.  After that, there is still paperwork and legal matters to finish, but she cannot have the baby back unless the adoption process was not done legally.

  3. Things vary from state to state, but generally, once there is an 'adoption', things are done and challenges of the adoption are only limited to cases of fraud or similar crime.

However, there are many stages of the adoption process, many of them are there to allow people to challenge or back out of the adoption.  For example, many states will require a certain amount of time after the birth before the biological mother can sign off and/or a time period between 'placement' in an adoptive home and final adoption.

  4. I don;t believe there is any time limit. Once the adoption is final then its done. Thats because they have a termination of parental rights hearing before the adoption hearing and there is a time limit or appeal process on ther termination before an adoption takes place.

  5. If you are a birth mother considering adoption then asking this question I say very strongly to you that as you are even in the slightest bit considering it then DONT give your baby up

If you are a prospective adoptive parent looking to adopt it varies from country to country, In the UK it was 6mths. Which was very scary for my adoptive parents. and very sad that my mum who gave birth to me didnt change her mind in all that time.

Anyone who questions how long you get to change your mind shouldnt give their baby up

I liken Adopting a baby to a Legal Court Trial and if there is just that 1 percent doubt then do NOT do it on either side...

If most people who did have that 1percent doubt followed that train of thought there would hardly be any adoptions...

  6. There is no set time period, it varies from place to place. However in most circumstances, once the papers are signed, thats it, no turning back

  7. 3 weeks in Ontario

  8. it's a state by state thing in the US.

if you mean after relinquishment papers have been signed and it's been finalized, unless there is some legal reason it can't be overturned.  you would have to prove you were coerced or forced into the adoption.  and still many courts are unwilling to overturn once an adoption has been finalized.

i would research the adoption laws in the state the adoption took place.

  9. first of all don't think don't do it @ALL  YOU willregret it later

  10. It will vary from state to state.

It is imperative you understand your rights to change your mind. If your having doubts then adoption is NOT for you!!!
