  1. Good question. It all depends on the size of the aircraft ie: weight, speed, etc. In small aircraft tires will generally last 40+ takeoffs and landings. (cycles) In the airline business I believe all tires must be inspected after..I think 14 cycles. Give or take a few. Now if a mechanic finds a tire must be replaced..then it gets replaced at that time. If not the tires could last another 3-8 cycles..again depending on the aircraft, landings, runways, etc. So if you think about it, say a dc-9 or a 737, their tires will be replaced more often than say a 747 or a330 because of the longer trips which equals less landings. A 747 might land once twice maybe three times in a 24 hour period. A smaller plane like a 737 might land 4-6 times.. Hope this helps.

  2. Theres no particular time, Aircraft repairs such as tire changes depend on flight cycles, for Aircraft like the 747 or A380 normally require tire changes after 150-300 flight cycles.

  3. This is a question with no right answer. On Large jets they can last from 10-30 landings, on small aircraft 80-150. There are a lot off factors involved eg: runway surface, wet or dry runway, aircraft weight, pilot, field elevation (the higher you are the faster you are). I ones saw a guy do 1 landing (on a new set) and popping both main wheels.

  4. why care?

  5. Around 3-6 months depending on how harsh their used.

  6. The tires are not hard natural rubber, they're inflated with nitrogen and they have a finite life span.  The life span is variable.  Airlines keep metrics, although I'm not sure of the specifics and it probably varies by carrier, aircraft, and the tire itself.  They're replaced as-needed, it is part of normal service checks.  The good ones are retreaded, some aren't able to be due to damage to the underlying structure of the tire or other factors.  Sorry I don't have specific cycle figures, a person working as a line service tech would probably know that though.

  7. a air craft tire last forever only if landed on bad runway. b/c the tire is non air able its hard natural rubber.

  8. average lifespan is 100 take off's and landings.
