How long do caffeine headaches usually last?

I drunk a frozen coffee a couple hours ago...and had an immediate headache. I layed down and after an hour it was over. The thing is I just drunk a half a cup of it. I should also mention I have been laying off of caffeine for about 6 months now? Just wondering if this is normal and what everyone else's experiences are with this.

  1. Personally, I never got caffeine headaches due to drinking caffeine. It was only when I stopped, then after awhile I began getting withdrawal symptoms.

For me it depends on the circumstance. When I do get them and leave it untreated (through consuming caffeine or taking Tylenol), it can last anywhere from a few hours to most of the day.

Once when I was very low on money, I had to cut back of sodas with caffeine, yet I didn't get one headache at all because of it. Perhaps when the mind or body is worried about other more important things, it prioritizes.

Perhaps in your case, since the beverage you drank it from was so cold, and that you haven't had caffeine in so long, it may have been a slight shock to the system so to speak.

  2.   that sounds like a normal reaction to me, I've ben doin the same thing and have had 2 headaches myself.
