How long do cats usually live?

How long do cats usually live? My cats like ancient o.O its weird lol. I'm just wondering.

They can live up to 22 years.

My domestic long haired kitty chose her place with us here in 1998. Our indoor/outdoor kitty wandered up and decided to hang out with the resident canine an otherwise formidable akita, advanced in years.  He tried to chase her away, but like a shadow, she wouldn't give up.

She kept hanging out, tailing the hound, despite his objections, cuddling up to him every time he tried to catch some zzzzzs.  She wasn't leaving...this was to be her home and so it was.   Shortly after her arrival she had a litter of kittens.  It was then that the old dog relented and let her hang out with him...after she agreed to a visit to the local spay clinic.  

They slept, ate, and hung out together until He passed away in 94.  When we had her spayed, the vet said she was around 2 years old.  Today, in 2008, she is a bit slower, her grooming is less meticulous.  She still plays, and cuddles and talks to me.  I will be sad when she isn't here to greet me each morening with her friendly meows and chirrupps :(

I hope she will live to be 36 or maybe even 40.  Right now, she is around 22 and still  so very lovable!

I had a cat that lived to 22yrs old, however, if you have an outside cat you can expect 2-3 yrs if you are lucky and indoor cats have a much better chance of having a long healthy life

my cats are 15,16 and 17,

2 years ago there was a cat alive in texas and he was 34 then(don't know if still alive today)

a cat died 1 day short of his 36th birthday

I had one make it to 21 and another to 19.  I'd say 15-18 is average.  A friend of mine had a Siamese live to 25.  They tend to live a bit longer.

It depends on the cat, and unfortunately the amount of traffic on your street.

The average indoor cat lives to be about 12-14.

The oldest recorded cat lived to be 36 though so you never know!

longest is probobly 16 years, mine is about 13 usually the average cat age is 12 to 14 years.

It depends on it their indoor or outdoor - the oldest cat that I've personally had lived to about 17 year and she was indoor/outdoor.

Cats usually live well into their mid teens, but can certainly live to be in their mid 20's, although it isn't common. My vet said the average indoor cat lives to be about 13. Many don't make it that long, but many live longer...it's just an average.

My kitty Pepper is now 7 years old and going strong. Our neighbor's cat Max was almost 20 before he started to slow down. With proper care and love a cat can live to be a ripe old age.
