  1. That depends on how BIG they are & how FAST they're moving... Either way, the LONGER they hang around- the MORE damage gets done. I've heard of some that lasted less than 6 Hours...-& others, as LONG as 3 DAYS ! So there can be a LOT of variability from one Storm to the next...

  2. A cyclone is a hurricane by another name. They are called cyclones in the East South Pacific around Burma, Vietnam, Cambodia, Indonesia  etc. They spin clockwise instead of counter-clockwise as do hurricanes in the North Atlantic and North Pacific. They are only called Cyclones in one part of the world. Like hurricanes they can last hours or days. But that part of the world seems to produce some of the most vicious storms. A circular storm is by nature called a cyclone. But, I'll bet you are talking about the one that hit Burma over the weekend. It was equivalent to a hurricane.

  3. If it is a cyclone like in a hurricane,  it is usually for hours except the rains can be steady for a few days depending on how fast it is moving and they move slower over land usually downgrading to a low pressure area and losing the higher winds.

  4. Most die out (or are reduced in strength below cyclone intensity) once they cross a coastline - usually a matter of hours.
