  1. 5 yrs. Or somtimes longer.

  2. up to 10 years

  3. Fancy goldfish (the ones with a rounder body and double tail) live for around 5-10 years depending on breeding and water quality. Common goldfish (with the more streamlined body and single tail) can live for around 20 years. Goldfish very rarely reach this age because people keep them in tanks and bowls that are too small. It is a myth that they grow to the size of their tank, this causes stunting which shortens their life-span considerably.

  4. The oldest on record was 43 years old, but how long yours will live depends on how well you take care of them.

  5. My father in law had some for 5 years it depends on the fish! Some live 4 min and some live forever

  6. 8-10 years is about average under ideal conditions. Of course some might only live 5, some may make 15.

Common and comet goldfish are hardier and can live longer - 20years is not unusual.

  7. If given proper care..meaning, 20 gallon per fish..very strong filtration, about 10 times higher rated than the capacity of your tank..good food..excellent water condition..ideal pH, no ammonia, nitrites, nitrates..and frequent water changes etc...then easily from 8-15 years...of course sometimes lesser would all depend upon the breed and how the fish was bred, the genetics..etc...
