How long do fawns keep their spots?

  1. There is no set amount of time. The spots help them blend with the ground where they are sitting. They can't run fast enough to escape predators and so sitting still, with spots, helps them evade predators. Usually when they are out of hiding and running around behind their parents, they quickly lose their white spots so that they can camouflage better with the brown or gray, grassy backdrop. This could happen in a couple of weeks after birth.  


  2. I have one I bottle raised....he was over a year old before his spots faded completely....he is 5 yrs now....
