Question:

How long do floaters usually last?

I've been seeing a black spot in my left eye for a little over a month. It shows up AT LEAST five times a day. About a week ago, I started to see a black squiggly line in my right eye.

I'm starting to get really worried about both of these things, but I can't see an eye doctor yet because we don't have insurance right now.

What could be causing these? I've talked to both of my parents, but they haven't said much about it.

  1. floaters are normal we usually start getting them when we are in our 20s its small pieces of blood that has broke off and you will see a black zig zag like line for a minute or so then it goes ago they will last the rest of ur live but having them that many i'm not sure its ok

  2. Floaters are normal and usually nothing to worry about.  They are just small parts of your eye that have broken loose or clumps of liquid in your eye.  They float around inside your eye and can get in your vision.  Unfortunately there really isn't anything you can do about them.  Eventually your brain may start to ignore them.

The only time to really worry about them is if you see A LOT all of a sudden.  That could mean an important part of your eye has detached in the back.

So basically, there's nothing to worry about.  They are just annoying.
