I'm looking to buy frozen rodents online to save money, but i only have one snake who eats one small rat a week. i want to buy as many at a time as possible to save money on shipping charges, but i dont want them to go to waste from sitting in my freezer for too long. How long will a small rat stay fresh in the freezer?

  1. a couple of years if vacuumed sealed . 3 months or so if not.

  2. Like human food, rodents can sit in the freezer for quite a while. As long as they're not exposed to varied temperatures that may cause them to defrost a bit, you can have them in there for a good six months. It isn't recomended to go over a year of them sitting in the freezer.

Make sure to get rid of all the air in the container- and if you're only removing one at a time, maybe have them individually sealed or sealed in small groups.

I use Rodentpro for my frozen rodents.. is the best deal I've found, though shipping can be a killer.

If you live in an area that gets reptile shows, you might want to check out to see if there are any rodent distributors that go to these shows- that way you can save on shipping.
