  1. Two years pre-dental and four years dental college....Good luck and I wish you well.

  2. A while...

At least two years of undergrad (check the websites of the schools you might want to go to - they will list the criteria needed to apply) Many schools prefer a BS, but you don't HAVE to have one to apply.

Dental school itself is a four-year program, with the exception of University of the Pacific in San Fransisco. It is currently the only three year program - meaning you do not get the typical summer off your first two years.

If you want to specialize (to be an orthodontist or endodontist, etc) that is another two or three years of training. Oral surgeons typically put in another four years after getting the DDS degree.

Another option is to stay at your school an additional year and do an advanced education in general dentistry program. (AEGD) This is a good jumping off point if you want to be ahead of your classmates in the field of general dentistry or if you seek a graduate program.

  3. In US: 4 years college with certain pre-requisite requirements in math and science courses, then 4 years of dental school.

Unless your grades are excellent, I think that you will have a better chance of accemptance if you hold a bachelor's degree.  You are also required to take a pre-admission test called the DAT or the Dental APtitude TEst.  Good luck.

  4. It is similar to medical school, but since you are specialized, the time is somewhat less.  About 8 years for a DMD/DDS

  5. About 8 years.
