I handed my resume to a sports store today. I REALLY want to work there and i desperately want them to call me up soon!

How long does it take managers to respond to resumes? and how many offers do they take? 1/50? 10/50?

  1. i thimk anytime from a week to 2wks

  2. Be proactive.

    1. Always try to personally hand your resume to the mgr. Shake their hand make eye contact. Gives you an opportunity to ask the very important questions yours asking. " Do you have open positions" if so " What time frame are you looking to bring someone in? "

Maybe even schedule a formal interview.

I don't like to just drop off my resume at a desk.

But since it sounds like you may have done that. Give it 3 business days and stop in the store and ask to speak to the mgr. If he is not available. Ask the person for his name and scheduled hours.

    So you can come back.

Make yourself known with out being pushy. They will remember face but not likely your call.

Make sure if you go in a second time have another copy of your resume in hand so you could just just hand it to him if you get lucky and he wants to talk to you on the spot.

Good Luck and always be prepared !!!

Great !! Then hopefully you have her name and info on the position. I think it safe to call. You can call one day before the business week ends of the date you met. So if you were in on Mon you should call Thurs or Fri and ask if she had an oportunity to review your resume? And get a feel for when they are trying to fill the position. That will give you an idea how to proceed moving forward.

I hope you get this position !!

  3. You have to wait as long as it takes for them to both 1) need to hire someone, and 2) pick out yours among many to call back.

It could be weeks if they're currently hiring, even days if you're really lucky.

It could be months if they aren't.

If you "really want" to work there.  Call and find out who does the hiring.  And then go there, and see if that person is around.  If so, introduce yourself.  Very briefly - a few minutes, max.  Then call or stop by about every 4-6 weeks, and say that you're still interested.

Eventually, they're going to need to hire someone, and they might remember that guy who keeps coming back.

The trick is to do it often enough that the remember, not so often or in an annoying way that you bug them.
