  1. correction crappy cars lasts only 100k...

good import, taken cared car will last way over 300k

so far the highest mileage I've seen on a sportsbike is 50k...and it was still running strong. take good care of the bike and you can always reservice / rebuilt your engine as needed it's cheaper than cars...

  2. probably around 50-60k 75-80k if you take care of it...

  3. Bikes in general can last as long as a car.  It all depends on how you use it, store it, and maintain it.

There is very little that is fundementally different about a bike or a car.  They both of an engine and they both have a transmission, wheels, drivetrain (shaft, chain, belt), brakes, 12V electrical systems, lights, sensors, guages, etc.  There is oil, brake fluid, suspension, body frames/panels/fairings/windshields.

Many people have bikes close to if not over 100K miles.  Perhaps with msot people though, to go 50K miles is to have had the bike for a long time and it may be time for something new so you never really see how long a bike could have gone because it gets "retired."

To answer you specific question, if you ride it carefully and take great care of it, it could perhaps go well over 100K.  Like a car you are going to have to put money into it.  Damage will occur and something may need to be replaced or rebuilt.  That is the way it is.  The bike it self can last for a very very long time, again, like a car.

  4. Of course it varies with  the amount of abuse versus the amount of maintenance.  Kawasaki in-line engines usually go about 65-70K before you need to do a top end (rings and valves).  Once the top end is rebuilt, they go another 65-70K.  The lower ends are basically bullet-proof.  This is what coined the expression "Old Kaws never die, they just go faster."

  5. 20k is the same to a motorcycle that 100k is to a car. That's not saying you won't find a good bike with over 20k. The same as you find a good car with over 100k that lasts for years. But it is considered high miles. The only exception is a Honda Goldwing. The have a six cylinder engine that's made pretty much like a honda car and can go for up to 100k. Hope this helps. Good luck.

  6. It all depends on how well it was maintained.  I have an 86 ninja 600 with 30,000 miles on it, and a 85 eliminator 900 with 20,000 miles.  The main reason bikes dont tend to last as long as cars mileage wise is because they are alot easier to total.

Therefore, I believe a very well taken-care-of sport bike could last about as long as a car.
