20 years or more, the same as any other colour corn snake. There is not really any such thing as melanistic corn snakes anyway. If it is black then it is an anerythistic corn. This means it has no red or yellow pigments, only leaving the melanin behind, but this is not melanism. Melanism is when there is an excessive saturation of melanin on the snake.

Melanism could occur in corn snakes but they are not on the market at present.

Hiya -

Not as straightforward as some might think. Just like any other species, the longevity of any snake depends greatly on the environment it lives in, food type and schedule, illnesses including kidney failure etc etc. Boas & pythons live the longest - that much is known. They can live to over thirty years - one known ball python lived to a ripe old age of 47!!

What we do know is that the life span of snakes in general is increasing steadily as we learn more about their husbandry.

We also know that albino snakes live far shorter lives. I know of none over the age of 11 personally. There is plenty of evidence to support an increase in fatty tumors in albino snakes.

Bottom line? Keep your animal well kept in a clean, safe, stress free environment, do not overfeed it (obesity kills snakes fast!) and you should have a happy animal well into it's twenties and more!

Amelanistic corn snakes are pink, Black corn snakes are  Anerythristic, as far as im aware, thier morph doesnt impact their life expectancy, on average i think they live for around 15-20 years

15-20 year his coloring doesn't really affect anything other than what he looks like
