How long do solar pannels last for?

I know how they work, sun whacks the electrons off silocan onto some wire and that is electricity but i'm thinking well that means its gona run out eventually so how long does the average solar pannel last for?

  1. The silicone wafers (PV cells) themselves only stop functioning when they are physically broken... This mean they have the potential to produce electricity for thousands of years, if left in peace.

    The electrical cords, encasements etc. go first, but can last life times if of good quality.


  2. I have seen the companies claim they last for 20 years. Home Depot has them and the warranty is good for 10years.

    They cost so much money you need to do the math to make sure you are saving in the long run.

  3. it last pretty long if you don't break the panel physically because the light ray from the sun won't destroy the panel.

    solar panels really are expensive... if the government really wants us to save energy then they should reduce the dam price -.-...
