How long do the side effects of a dog distemper shot last?

My 3 yr old minpin got a distemper shot about 3 hrs ago. She's acting very stand off-ish and wants to be by herself. I patted her her back and she yelped in pain (the shot was on her leg though). She keeps standing in random spots around the house, just standing there with her ears tucked back. Will this behavior last long? In the past, if she hurt her paw she would act sort of like this but not as dramatic. She's usually VERY high energy so this is very unusual

She shouldn't be feeling any pain from the shot, normally they feel sleepy and that's about it. Are you sure that you aren't making a fuss and giving her the idea that she should be upset and react?

The local injection site can hurt for a few days especially if the dog moved during the shot. Some dogs react to pain like this.  She doesn't want to move because her leg hurts.  Call your vet to see about giving her a baby aspirin for the pain.
