  2. The average lifespan of an American toad (Bufo americanus) in captivity is about 15-20 years. There is one documented case of an American toad living 36 years. It could of possible lived longer but unfortunately, it was accidentally killed. Most toads in the wild don’t live more than a year or two.

    Frogs have a slightly shorter lifespan. The oldest recorded Bullfrog (Rana catesbeiana) was 16 years old. In captivity Bullfrogs normally live about 5-9 years.
