There was one today (August 1st) in Novosibirsk Russia. Next one is going to be in the south of Japan. It depends where you are.

Not for quite a while in the western hemisphere. Solar eclipses happen all over the world every few years. The last one here was on 7-11-91 and was best viewed from the Big Island of Hawaii. I was there. It was awesome. But I don't think another one will be happening in the U.S. until around 2050 or so.

The next solar eclipse is the annular eclipse of 26th January 2009, visible in and around the Indian Ocean.

I live in the US. I'm really looking forward to the 2017 event. It cuts the nation in half. I'm not sure which half will fall into the ocean.
