  1. Your body will be adjusting to the fact it is no longer inhaling cigarette smoke. It is all perfectly natural and nothing to worry about. Like others have been saying it differs from person to person. Your cough and nausea will be gone within a few more weeks at the most.

Seeing as you are pregnant it may be better to ere on the side of caution and consult a doctor.

The longer you have stayed smoke free the easier the quitting process becomes and the healthier you become.  You have made the right choice, believe you can quit and you will.

  2. forever

  3. I think that it will vary with each person.  It depends on how long you've been smoking, how much you smoked a day, what kind of cigarettes you smoked, etc.  Each person will vary on the amount of damage s/he did to her/his lungs, even if all variables are exactly the same.  I really don't think there is any true way to tell.  Anyone who says something like, "oh, about 6 months," is probably just guessing.

  4. If you're coughing up phlegm, and you're pregnant, you should really get to a doctor to see what to do about this coughing. It's going to bad for your body to cough, because it could cause your pelvic muscles to be more stressed, and that could make your baby's delivery be tougher. It will make any incontinence you have during pregnancy much worse. It might mean that there isn't as much oxygen in your blood for the baby to have, and that's not good!  It doesn't really matter why you're coughing up phlegm -- you need to get treatment. You could be given an inhaler, or something like Mucinex to thin the mucous, or you could need an antibiotic for an infection. There's a lot of things that might help!

And, by the way, congratulations for stopping smoking!

  5. 2+ months...good luck...start a good health for your life without smoking...
