I started driving this week. Cars always honk at me because I go 10 under the speed limit. What can I say, driving is scary! When will I get used to it? How long do I have to drive before I can go at the right limit, maybe even a few above it?

  1. it will take a few years to actually become a good experienced driver, you,ll get better at it every time you drive though, learning to avoid accidents will come natural after a while, but it doesn't happen in a few months,it takes time, good luck.

  2. well u just hafta be sure of urself. the more confident u are the more able to drive u will be. dont go 10 under cuz it will jsut crawl up ppls rear ends . i kno driving is scary. mostly because it was my frends car and i wanted to go home after my little drive but if u go too slow u can get a ticket. and ur always able to go at least 5 miles over the limit. my dad does it all the time. mayb if ur lucky u can get 8-10 over.just be confident and understand the car and wat the 2400pound peice of metal and volatile liquid can do if u mess up.

  3. go with the traffic around you. stop looking at your speedometer and pay attention to your surroundings. as it is you are the hazard on the road.

  4. Every day for as long as you drive!  Never let your guard down. Always be defensive and look for a plan of action in case of impending road situations change.  AS others have mentioned, YOU are a road hazzard because you are impeding the safe flow of traffic. You can still be safe at legal speeds by maintaining safe following distances and slowing down when needed. Confidence will increase you increase your skill level . Good Luck !

  5. It is an everyday learning experience and the person that tells you that they are a great driver is most likely the worse drive..

  6. Someday cars will drive themselves.....

  7. you should really move over and let people pass you if you are going to drive 10 mph under the limit.....until you are use to driving. Many people are very impatient (including me at times) and don't care if you are new to driving they just want to get where they're going (usually at 10 mph over the limit not under). So it would probably be best if you let them pass....you will get comfortable with time everybody is different and experience does not necessarily make you a GOOD driver.

  8. It takes the average person about 60 hours of practice to develop skills and confidence in basic driving skills.

Taking a Driver's Education course from a Professional Driving Instructor will also put you on the right path to a safe driving career.

  9. about as long as it takes for you to have a constant defensive plan every time you get behind the wheel........always be aware of your surroundings, and constantly formulate a plan as you drive......

  10. Drive however you feel comfortable. The best advice i can give you is you will never be a great driver. No one will be great. You can only be as good as the idiot in front of or behind you.All you can control is your vehicle.
